Math and Literacy Work Station Containers

I'll admit it, I LOVE containers.  I can't go into a store without stopping in the organizational container area.  I have many crates, bins and boxes.  Each type of container is designated for specific items. I also only buy containers in specific colors.  I find that color coding when possible is extremely helpful.  My newest, most favorite bins are these.

Math Work Stations

They are Sterilite latch clip containers.  made especially for Target.  The best part is that on-line they were 6/$19.99.  In the store, they $4.99 each. I first found these containers last August, in the store with black clips.  I use the black ones for my Math Work Stations.  Next year, I will use the red clip boxes for my Literacy Work Stations.  They are durable and super easy for the kids to open. They stack nicely on my shelf and are able to hold everything I need for my stations.  They even make  a smaller vernon of these containers 6/$14.99.  I just wish I could rationalize why I need them.  Being cute and matching isn't a reason.  I made labels for the fronts so the kids can quickly find the container they need.  Labels will be in my next post.

  1. I love containers too! I've been looking for some containers to store my literacy centers in. I'm thinking these might work. Did I read correctly that it is cheaper to order online?

  2. I love containers, too! I used to be really bad about just buying containers without a purpose for them, but I've gotten better about that. I bought these same containers in August. Mine are lime green and they work great!

    Thanks!

  3. i'm not sure if my daughter's school utilizes "centers" but i keep reading about them all over the blogosphere! i have been eargerly downloading freebie centers packets to use with my kids over the summer. but, i have a question. how do you keep the kids from getting bored with the activities? in a classroom, i guess you'd get a lot more traffic? i wanted to ask if you'd be interested in writing a guest post about keeping kids interested for the longest time possible? i'm thinking there will need to be a wide rotation of things to keep them interested? and since i'm loving your boxes for organization, any thoughts about organizing school stuff in the home? i don't want to set up a classroom, but i don't want the school stuff to take over the house either!

  4. Hi Misty- thanks for your comment. I'd love to write a blog post about keeping kids interested. I do rotate my kids through my centers. Some centers are short lived and others aren't just depends on the level of difficulty and if they have mastered them or not. You can email me at time4kindergarten@comcast.net
